Going out on a limb here, and going to assume that some of you may be interested in recipes for alcoholic beverages.  I am aware that cavemen probably didn’t drink sangria, but the cavemen weren’t right about EVERYTHING, you know?

However, I am sensitive to the needs of those of you that may not drink alcohol, or that may be sensitive to the sulfites in wine.  If that is you, I recommend substituting the wine in the recipe with pomegranate juice and the champagne with a splash of soda water or sparkling wine, whichever you prefer.

This holiday champagne sangria is alcoholic, but not heavy on the alcohol, which makes it perfect for making in large volumes and sipping all evening without putting the entire party to sleep.  Just make sure that the apple cider you use has no added sugar, and you’re good to go! An additional note is that the sangria is tasty within 15 minutes of being mixed together, but it is far better when allowed to steep overnight.

The wine in this delicious spiced holiday champagne sangria makes it perfect for sipping, but the apple cider and fruit infusion makes it refreshing and light.

  1. Mix all ingredients EXCEPT for champagne together in a large pitcher or infusion jar.
  2. Refrigerate and allow to steep overnight for best results.
  3. To each glass, add a splash of champagne to taste (an ounce or two) and a few apple slices. Serve chilled!
